Dear colleagues and friends,
Welcome to our official website of Chinese Economics Society Australia!
The year 2016 sees the thirtieth anniversary of Chinese Economics Society Australia (CESA). CESA’s influence has now extended beyond Australia to China and the rest of Asia-Pacific region, as a result of 30-year-effort of our members and Council of Management.
CESA has a farsighted initiative aimed to provide a platform for academic exchange. Back to 1986 when CESA was created, few could foresee the dramatic development of economic relationship between Australia and China. In 1985, the bilateral trade between the two countries only accounted for 2.5% of Australia’s total trade and 1.8% of China’s trade respectively. Today, China is Australia’s largest two-way trading partner in goods and services, while Australia is China’s eighth largest trading partner.
In addition, some emerging and important issues are to be examined. Particularly, the Chinese new development model has attracted attention from both academic and policy making perspectives.
CESA is endeavor to provide a professional network connecting researchers working on Chinese economy in the Asia-Pacific region, especially China and Australia; and to contribute to scholarly development as well as policy debates in both China and Australia.
The key platform of CESA is the annual CESA conference, which is held in the middle of year in one of the Australian cities. CESA also co-organizes other events in China and other countries.
We welcome your active participation in attending our events and engaging with our members in Australia and abroad.
