Dear colleagues and friends,
Welcome to our official website of Chinese Economics Society Australia (CESA)!
CESA was established in 1986, and has a farsighted initiative aiming to provide a platform for academic exchange. With more than 30 years’ efforts of our members and Council of Management, CESA’s influence has now extended beyond Australia to China and the rest of Asia-Pacific region.
Back to 1986, few could foresee the dramatic development of economic relationship between Australia and China. In 1985, the bilateral trade between the two countries only accounted for 2.5% of Australia’s total trade and 1.8% of China’s total trade respectively. Today, China is Australia’s largest two-way trading partner in goods and services, while Australia is China’s eighth largest trading partner.
With this growing bilateral economic relationship, CESA endeavors to provide a professional network connecting researchers working on Chinese economy in the Asia-Pacific region, especially China and Australia, and to contribute to scholarly development as well as policy debates in both China and Australia.
The key platform of CESA is its annual conference, which is held in the middle of year in one of the Australian cities. CESA also co-organizes other events in China and other countries.
We welcome your active participation in attending our events and engaging with our members in Australia and abroad.
President of CESA
